Client Background
The Balboa Park Cultural
Partnership, a collaborative organization comprising 26 diverse
museums and cultural institutions in San Diego, launched the Balboa
Park Learning Institute (BPLI) in 2008 to offer cost-effective,
specialized training and educational opportunities for Park staff,
trustees, and volunteers.
Description of Project/Process
Gail Anderson was chosen
to advise the Partnership for her leadership in organizational transformation
and museum training. In this role, she guided an all-volunteer,
multi-institutional team in transitioning a major IMLS 21st Century
Museum Professionals grant from concept into reality. This work
included strategic planning, executive recruitment, and partnership
development.
Outcome
Anderson provided recurring
support to BPLI staff throughout its initial three-year phase in
which more than 4,800 people benefited from 140 programs. BPLI has
evolved into an innovative collaborative learning community that
builds new skills and networks, challenges contemporary convention,
and strengthens the arts and culture field as a whole as well as
Balboa Park. Anderson continues working with BPLI to help refine
a sustainable business model for the program.
Timetable
Consultancy began in
2008 and has been ongoing as needed
Testimonial
I have found working
with Gail Anderson and Associates extremely valuable. I admire
Gail for her firm ethical standards, high integrity and straight
forwardness—as well as her tremendous knowledge of a changing
field. Not only has she provided excellent strategic guidance,
Gail has been an advocate and ambassador for the program. She
is really driven for our success in her work—before her
own agenda. This generates a great deal of trust in working with
her.
