Client Background
The University of Victoria offers innovative short-term workshops
and courses addressing the contemporary issues facing museums and
cultural institutions. Their certificate program begins with a
three-day session entitled, “Challenges in Cultural Heritage
Sector Leadership Workshop.” Anderson co-taught this course
with a faculty member from the University of Victoria. Anderson
focused on the issues specific to museums and cultural institutions
while the other faculty member coached the students on diverse
leadership skills.
Description of Project/Process
The course unfolded over a three-day period with Anderson
teaching a day and a half of the program augmented with one-on-one
coaching sessions for each student. The curriculum covered current
trends and thinking in the field but also incorporated the current
issues that existed in the institutions where the participants
worked.
Outcome
A day and a half teaching component with participants. Based on participant
evaluations, Anderson’s portion of the workshop received
outstanding marks with the recommendation to shape the workshop
so Anderson had more teaching time and more individual contact
time with the participants.
Timetable
Three months from the beginning conversations that confirmed Anderson
as a faculty member through implementation of the workshop.

In addition to her extensive and insightful knowledge of museums,
Gail brings a wonderful mix of professionalism, integrity and energy
to her teaching that motivates participants and fully engages them
in the learning process. It is always a pleasure to work with Gail
as we know that whatever she tackles will be done with grace and
