Client Background
Crafton Hills College
Foundation (CHC Foundation) is a non-profit fundraising foundation
dedicated to supporting the College in its educational mission.
As State education funding continues to decrease significantly,
CHC Foundation sought to strengthen its commitment to the College
and refine its strategic direction.
Description of the Process/Project
GA&A crafted a multi-step
process, which included a comparative survey of CA community college
foundations, confidential interviews of selected Foundation Board
members, and a Board retreat to assess the Foundation's operations
and identify its top priorities.
Outcome
Through a two-day retreat,
GA&A engaged the Board leadership in an analysis of the current
operation in order to envision a stronger future and to increase
the capacity of the Foundation. A final report outlined specific
steps and recommendations to guide the Foundation's work in the
coming years.
Timetable
Six months from the design
phase through implementation.
Testimonial
As a Board member of
the San Bernardino Symphony
Orchestra (SBS), I was impressed
with Gail's work determining roles for the SBS Association and
Guild, setting expectations of Board members and helping put in
place SBS strategic direction.
As Crafton Hills College
President, I felt that Gail's impressive understanding and rapport
with Boards would greatly assist CHC Foundation. GA&A conducted
a thorough analysis of other CA community college foundations,
highlighted where our Foundation fit and outlined the decisions
the Board needed to make to move the organization forward.
Gail has taught me that
a successful Board is a combination of good structure and strong
leadership. She also has a way of telling Boards something they
do not want to hear, in a nice way. We are very pleased with CHC's
the establishment of good underpinnings for the Foundation's future.
